Mr. Biswajit Roychowdhury

Mr. Biswajit Roychowdhury has 33 years of Core Operations and Management experience across functional areas in the integrated steel major, Tata Steel Limited. He has led major Business Transformations and executed several Projects and Initiatives in Operations, Supply Chain Management, Marketing & Sales, Organization Design and Structure with a strong accent on adoption of new Technologies, IT and Digital.

A Metallurgical Engineer from IIT Kharagpur, he started his professional career in shop floor plant operations in Steel Making and hot rolling. Subsequently, he trained on wide ranging functional areas of production processes such as demand planning, production planning and scheduling, master scheduling, master planning, distribution planning, transportation planning and execution, strategic network planning, inventory management, external processing management, manpower planning and other processes. With focused analytical acumen, he achieved breakthrough performance metrics viz. improvement in productivity, throughput and reduction in order cycle time through meticulous planning.

He devised a strategy for the design and set up of a new Greenfield integrated steel plant and d ecided on the process flows, technology selection, shaping and sizing of the equipment for the proposed plant. He designed the organization structure and manpower requirement; identified the outsourcing activities and designed a strategy. He formulated the Human Resource development plan for the proposed plant, including designing and deploying the Rehabilitation and Relocation strategy of the displaced people.
